The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day, He rose again.
He ascended into heaven.
He is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and He will come to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.Amen.
The Messiah and King
In addition to the Apostles’ Creed, here are more foundations of faith that are very dear to our hearts.
They are especially appropriate for the Last Days we are entering.
The Old Testament scripture below prophesies of the Messiah of Israel to come. We believe it is wonderfully fulfilled by Yeshua, (Jesus) as also foretold in the New Testament.
See for yourself...
Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure:
“Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.”
“I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’”
Now therefore, be wise, O kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
Psalm 2 (NKJV)
Yet there’s more.
A lot more.
Psalm 2 does not limit the Messiah’s kingship to Israel alone. David’s psalm outlines clearly that He—the Anointed One—shall rule over all nations from Mount Zion in Jerusalem.
More interesting still, Jesus directly references this psalm in the New Testament. By doing so, He asserts His claim to be the Messianic King prophesied by David thousands of years previously.
Jesus uses the words from Psalm 2 in Revelation 2:27 showing He will rule over all nations on earth with a rod of iron. The book of Revelation quotes this section of Psalm 2 three times.
This is a big deal. God is emphatically underlining Jesus’ reign as King over all the earth.
The risen Son
So what does God the Father say about Psalm 2 and about His precious Son?
This:
“You are My Son. Today I have begotten You.”
Psalm 2:7 (NKJV)
The following passage is taken from the book of Acts and was shared by the Apostle Paul—a “Pharisee of Pharisees”, from the tribe of Benjamin no less.
Here is Paul laying it out plainly, so none can miss what he claims:
“Men and brethren, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to you the word of this salvation has been sent.
For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the Prophets which are read every Sabbath, have fulfilled them in condemning Him.
And though they found no cause for death in Him, they asked Pilate that He should be put to death.
Now when they had fulfilled all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb.
But God raised Him from the dead.
He was seen for many days by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people.
And we declare to you glad tidings—that promise which was made to the fathers.
God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm:
‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.’And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus:
‘I will give you the sure mercies of David.’
Therefore He also says in another Psalm:
‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.’
For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption;
but He whom God raised up saw no corruption.
Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins;
and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.”
Acts 13:26–39 (NKJV)
Jerusalem
And finally, to wrap this all up in a tidy bow, let’s finish by showing where Jesus, the King of Israel, will reign as King over all the earth.
Again, this is taken from the book of Revelation. Eye-opening, don’t you think?
And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”
And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.
Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.
Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.
The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal.
Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.
The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.
The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,
the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honour into it.
Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there).
And they shall bring the glory and the honour of the nations into it.
But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
